Retired, Pima Community College Faculty and Administrator

Prior to settling in for her 30+ year career at Pima Community College, Patricia Houston lived, studied, worked, and taught in Mexico, Colombia and Peru and later ran a career development company with contracts with the Department of Defense to help retiring military transition to civilian careers. At Pima in her roles as Student Activities Director, Spanish Faculty, Academic Dean and Acting Vice President of Instruction, international education, career and workforce development and student success were on-going priorities. She was instrumental in establishing the Translation and Interpretation Studies program at Pima and she is the creator and co-author of the Pearson Education “Spanish at Work” series of introductory Spanish textbooks that allow students to complete their basic language requirement with contexts and vocabulary that support future career goals. Now retired, she is continuing to travel and explore the world, and is on the board of Tucson’s Citizen Diplomacy Alliance, affiliated with both Pima Community College and the Department of State.
